The Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday released its fifth list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections featuring some big names including Naveen Jindal from Haryana’s Kurukshetra, actress Kangana Ranaut from Himachal’s Mandi and Arun Govil from Meerut.
Notable candidates in this list include Sita Soren, the sister-in-law of Hemant Soren, from Dumka, Ravi Shankar Prasad from Patna Sahib, Giriraj Singh from Begusarai, Dharmendra Pradhan from Sambhalpur, Pratap Sarangi from Balasore, Sambit Patra from Puri, Meenakshi Gandhi from Sultanpur, and Jitin Prasada from Pilibhit.
The BJP’s fifth list mentioned a total of 111 candidates for six seats in Andhra Pradesh, 17 seats in Bihar, one seat each in Sikkim, Mizoram and Goa, six seats in Gujarat, four seats in Haryana, two each in Himachal Pradesh and Telangana, three each in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, four each in Kerala and Karnataka, 18 seats in Odisha, seven in Rajasthan, 13 in Uttar Pradesh and 19 in West Bengal.
The election for the 543 Lok Sabha seats will be held in seven phases beginning from April 19 to June 1. The counting of votes will be done on June 4.
