The Election Commission of India on Wednesday issued the notification for the first phase of Lok Sabha elections 2024.
Voting for 102 Lok Sabha constituencies across 17 states and four Union territories will take place on April 19, the ECI said. The deadline for filing nominations is March 28 for Bihar and March 27 for the remaining states and UTs.
“March 30 will be the date for scrutiny of nominations for Bihar and March 28 for others,” the ECI said. Similarly, April 2 will be the last date for withdrawal of candidatures for Bihar and March 30 for other states and UTs.
Of the 102 constituencies, 39 are Tamil Nadu, 12 in Rajasthan, eight in Uttar Pradesh, six in Madhya Pradesh, five each in Uttarakhand, Assam and Maharashtra, four in Bihar, three in West Bengal, two each in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, and one each in Chhattisgarh, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura, Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Jammu and Kashmir, Lakshadweep, and Puducherry
The general elections will be conducted in seven phases across the country, with the final phase scheduled for June 1. Counting of votes will take place on June 4.
