IMD forecasts fresh rainfall across Western Himalayan region from March 11 to 14

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecasted light to moderate rainfall or snowfall across the Western Himalayan region from March 11 to 14, with the peak intensity expected on March 13. 

The IMD has issued a yellow alert for thunder and lightning in Ladakh, Jammu & Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and Punjab-Haryana on March 13. Furthermore, a yellow alert has been issued for Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, and West Bengal on March 14.

A fresh western disturbance is likely to affect Northwest India from the night of March 12, leading to isolated to scattered light or moderate rainfall or snowfall over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Monday, followed by fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall or snowfall with isolated thunderstorm and lightning likely over Jammu-Kashmir, Ladakh, Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand on Wednesday and Thursday.  

Isolated to scattered light rainfall is also very likely over Sub-Himalayan West Bengal and Sikkim from March 11 to 14; Gangetic West Bengal from 13 to 17; over Odisha from 14 to 17; over Jharkhand, East Madhya Pradesh, Vidarbha and Chhattisgarh on March 16 and 17; and over West Madhya Pradesh on March 17. 

The weather agency has also predicted isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall or snowfall over Arunachal Pradesh in the next seven days. Isolated light rainfall is very likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from March 13 to 15.

Additionally, hot and humid weather is likely to persist over Kerala and Mahe for the next two days, and over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal for the next three days.
