Union Minister Smriti Zubin Irani launched a two-day Training of Trainers Programme at Vigyan Bhavan to prepare for Haj 2024 on Sunday. In the presence of Minister of State for Minority Affairs, John Barla, more than 550 trainers from different States/UTs participated. The program aims to sensitize and educate trainers to ensure Haj pilgrims have an enriching experience and are well-informed about the pilgrimage.
As part of the government’s efforts to enhance the Haj experience, Minister Smriti Irani introduced the Haj Suvidha App for all pilgrims. Developed by BISAG-N under her guidance, the app leverages digital technology to provide essential information and direct access to services like training modules, flight details, accommodation, emergency helpline, and health at the fingertips of the Pilgrims. This user-friendly app allows pilgrims to focus on their spiritual journey, minimizing concerns about travel logistics and documents, particularly beneficial for first-time Haj performers.
Additionally, the Minister unveiled the Haj Guide-2024, published in 10 languages, emphasizing the use of the Haj Suvidha App. The guide will be distributed to all Haj pilgrims.
In her address, Minister Irani highlighted the government’s efforts to make Haj transparent, uniform, cost-efficient, safe, and spiritually fulfilling. She applauded increased participation from Ladies Without Mehram (LWM) pilgrims, demonstrating the government’s commitment to inclusivity. The Haj Suvidha App ensures better access to facilities, administrative coordination, grievance redressal, and emergency response.
Emphasizing the importance of training, the Minister urged trainers to give their best efforts, with the trainer-to-pilgrim ratio increased from 1:300 to 1:150. This initiative aims to provide a more fulfilling Haj experience for Indian pilgrims.
