Indian athletes from the Asian Games 2022 clinched a comprehensive victory in the final of the National Esports Championships (NESC) 2024, organised by the Esports Federation of India (ESFI). This win secures their passage to the regional qualifiers for the 16th World Esports Championships (WEC), slated to take place in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.
In DOTA 2, Team Whoops, boasting members from the Asian Games 2022 and Commonwealth Esports Championships 2022, clinched victory with a commanding 46-8 win in the final, led by captain Krish Gupta. They advance to the regional qualifiers scheduled for June 26 to 30.
In CS:2, both open and female brackets witnessed intense competition. Team Gods Reign emerged victorious in the open category, while Team CCL triumphed in the female category. Both teams are set to compete in the regional qualifiers, aiming for spots in the global finals of WEC 2024.
Hemanth Kommu secured victory in eFootball, earning a direct spot in the global finals of WEC 2024.
With a total of 135 athletes participating, NESC 2024 showcased India’s growing presence in the esports arena.
As Lokesh Suji, Director of ESFI, congratulated the champions, he expressed confidence in their ability to shine on the international stage. The journey continues as Indian teams gear up for the regional qualifiers, fueled by the support of ESFI and the nation.
