The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said that a fresh heat wave spell is likely over Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during May 8 to 10. The IMD also predicted that heat wave conditions in isolated pockets over Rayalaseema, Tamil Nadu, Puducherry and Karaikal, South Interior Karnataka and Kerala and Mahe on May 7; over Interior Karnataka on May 7 and 8; over East Rajasthan on May 8 and 9th; over West Rajasthan and West Madhya Pradesh during May 8–10.
The weather agency also said that heat wave conditions are very likely to prevail over south Peninsular India on Tuesday and abate thereafter.
Additionally, hot and humid weather is very likely to prevail in isolated pockets over Gujarat Region during next 5 days.
IMD also forecast rainfall in certain parts of the country. During next 7 days, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura are likely to receive scattered to fairly widespread light to moderate rainfall accompanied with isolated thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds.
Further, isolated to scattered light to moderate rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm and lightning and gusty winds is very likely over Tamil Nadu, Puducherry & Karaikal, Coastal Andhra Pradesh and Yanam, Rayalaseema, Telangana and Karnataka during next 5 days; and scattered to fairly widespread rainfall accompanied with thunderstorm, lightning and gusty winds over Kerala and Mahe during May 7 – 12.
