The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has said that severe heatwave conditions prevailing over Delhi, Haryana, Chandigarh, and Punjab have improved. It added that heatwave to severe heatwave conditions are mainly expected over Rajasthan and Gujarat for the next three days.
Further, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall is likely to continue over the southern parts of India until Friday.
In Kerala, isolated rains lash parts of several parts of the state, leaving many low-lying areas inundated. IMD issues a red alert in Ernakulam and Thrissur and an orange alert in 8 districts, including Wayanad, Idukki and Pathanamthitta.
The IMD said that the conditions are favourable for further advance of Southwest monsoon over some more parts of south Bay of Bengal, remaining parts of Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Andaman Sea and some parts of east central Bay of Bengal during next two days.
