In the lead-up to the Paris Olympics 2024, the newly appointed Union Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports, Mansukh Mandaviya, held a review meeting on Thursday in New Delhi to discuss India’s preparations. This marked the first meeting between the Sports Minister and the President of the India Olympic Association (IOA), PT Usha.
Several key figures attended the meeting, including Sports Secretary Sujata Chaturvedi, Director General of the Sports Authority of India Sandip Pradhan, and Minister of State for Sports Raksha Khandse.
Following her discussion with Mansukh Mandaviya, PT Usha said, “I am delighted that they are keen to learn about the IOA and our preparations for Paris. We will maintain regular contact and aim to have weekly meetings.”
The Paris Olympics are scheduled to take place from July 26 to August 11. India will try to outdo their all-time best tally of seven medals, including a gold, which they achieved in the 2020 Tokyo Olympics.
In the Paralympics, India will try break its record of 19 medals, including five golds, set at the 2020 Tokyo edition.
