On Friday evening, the Asian Town Cricket Stadium in Qatar was transformed into a hub of wellness and cultural unity as more than 2,000 participants from diverse nationalities came together to commemorate the 10th United Nations International Day of Yoga.
The event, organized by the Indian embassy in collaboration with the Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) and Indian Sports Centre (ISC), saw a remarkable turnout of yoga practitioners and enthusiasts from all walks of life.Indian Ambassador to Qatar, Vipul, led the celebrations alongside officials from the ICC and ISC.
The centerpiece of the event was a 40-minute Common Yoga Protocol performance, in which all attendees participated, showcasing the unifying power of this ancient practice.Adding to the festive atmosphere were yoga competitions for both children and adults, as well as an engaging yoga quiz that tested participants’ knowledge of the discipline.
“This celebration highlights the global appeal of yoga and its ability to bring people together,” said Ambassador Vipul. “It’s heartening to see such a diverse group united in their appreciation for this holistic practice.” ICC President A P Manikantan, and ISC President E P Abdulrahman, along with other community leaders attended the event.
