The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rain along the West Coast, in many parts of northeast and east India, and in Uttar Pradesh over the next five days.
Met department said Bihar and Odisha can expect isolated extremely heavy rainfall today, July 8. Assam and Meghalaya are likely to experience similar weather on July 10 and 11. Over the next five days, Konkan and Goa, Madhya Maharashtra, Kerala, Mahe, Lakshadweep, and Coastal Karnataka will likely see fairly widespread to widespread light to moderate rainfall with thunderstorms and lightning.
In anticipation of severe waterlogging in Mumbai, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) has deployed teams across various city parts. This action follows reports of heavy rain in several areas and a forecast of light to moderate rainfall over the next three hours. Teams have been positioned in Thane, Vasai (Palghar), Mahad (Raigad), Chiplun (Ratnagiri), Kolhapur, Sangli, Satara, Ghatkopar, Kurla, and Sindhudurg to prevent any incidents and respond quickly in case of flooding.
