Incessant rain has triggered floods, and landslides, resulting in human and animal casualties and blocking movements on the roads in many areas in Nepal. Landslides in the mountains have caused road blockages leading to inconvenience to travellers as well as locals. The Hanumante River in Bhaktapur and the Bagmati River in the southern region of Kathmandu have swollen massively.
In Saptari Sirha, the army rescued 6 people from floods of river Balan who were farming and grazing cows in the area.
The three Rajpur farmers, who had returned from selling milk at the Lamhi market in the morning, were caught in the flood while crossing the Rapti River. The Nepal Police rescued two of them, but one person was swept away by the flood. By flooding of the Rolwaling rivulet, three houses were swept away in Gaurishankar Rural Municipality in the Dolakha district.
In Daang district, a 32-member team of the Nepal Army rescued residents trapped in 40 households in the flood water of River Rapti. In the eastern Nabalparasi district, a 50-year-old woman and a 42-year-old man were rescued from the flood water of River Narayani. Army rescued three residents trapped in the flood caused by the swollen Bagmati River in the Kirtipur area of Kathmandu Valley.
Since the monsoon arrival in Nepal, there have been 70 death tolls to date, with 14 individuals losing lives in the past two days.
