India experienced an 11% deficit in rainfall in June compared to the normal levels, with all regions except the south receiving below-average precipitation after the monsoon lost momentum in mid-June, as per the India Meteorological Department (IMD).
Data compiled by the IMD showed that the central, north-western, and north-eastern regions received 14%, 33%, and 13% less rainfall than average, respectively, in June.
In contrast, the southern region experienced 14% above-average rainfall, the data indicated.
