India’s shooting campaign at the Paris Olympics 2024 received another boost as the pair of Manu Bhaker and Sarabjot Singh finished in third place in the 10m air pistol mixed team qualification on Monday, securing a spot in the bronze medal match.
Manu and Sarabjot scored a total of 580-20x points to claim third place and will face fourth-placed South Korea, who scored 579-18x points, in the bronze medal match. The gold medal match will be contested between Turkey (582-18x) and Serbia (581-24x). Rhythm Sangwan and Arjun Singh Cheema finished in 10th place, missing out on the medal match.
In the qualification round of the mixed team 10m air pistol event, each team member shot a total of 30 shots within a time span of 30 minutes. Each series consisted of 10 shots per player, totaling 20 shots per series.
The top four teams advanced to the medal rounds, with the top two teams competing for gold and the third and fourth-placed teams vying for bronze.
Rhythm and Cheema held the fifth position after their first series of shots, scoring 194 points, with both players securing 97 points each. Manu and Sarabjot were in sixth place with 193 points, with Manu scoring 98 points and Sarabjot 95.
In their second series, Manu and Sarabjot scored a combined 195 points, with Manu achieving 98 and Sarabjot 97. Rhythm and Cheema scored 192 points in their second series, with Rhythm obtaining 99 points and Cheema 93.
In their third series, Manu and Sarabjot secured 192 points, with Manu scoring 95 points and Sarabjot 97. Rhythm and Cheema scored 190 points in their third series, with Rhythm scoring 92 points and Cheema 98.
At the end of all three series, Manu and Sarabjot had a final score of 580-20x, while Rhythm and Cheema finished with a combined score of 576-14x, placing them 10th.
