PM Modi dubs Vadhvan Port a “very special project”; set to lay foundation stone today

Ahead of his visit to Maharashtra, Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday described the ‘Vadhvan Port project’ as a “very special project” that will significantly contribute to India’s development. He also noted that the project would reinforce Maharashtra’s status as a “powerhouse of progress.”

Responding to a post on social media platform X, PM Modi said, “A very special project that will contribute to India’s development. It will also reaffirm Maharashtra’s pivotal role as a powerhouse of progress.”

On Friday, Prime Minister Modi will visit Maharashtra to lay the foundation stone for the Vadhvan Port project in Palghar, which is valued at around Rs 76,000 crores.

In a social media post on X, MyGov stated, “After being stalled for decades, the Vadhvan Port project is back on track and is expected to be operational by 2030.”

The post further stated, “Vadhvan Port is poised to become a leading shipping hub, featuring nine 1000-meter-long container terminals, multipurpose berths, liquid cargo berths, Ro-Ro berths, and a dedicated berth for the Coast Guard.”

The Vadhvan Port project is set to become one of India’s largest deepwater ports, significantly enhancing the country’s maritime connectivity and solidifying its status as a global trade hub. The port is expected to be operational by 2030.

The port is expected to generate significant employment opportunities, stimulate local businesses, and contribute to the overall economic development of the region.

The Vadhvan Port project incorporates sustainable development practices, with a focus on minimizing environmental impact and adhering to stringent ecological standards. Once operational, the port will enhance India’s maritime connectivity and further strengthen its position as a global trade hub.
