Union Home Minister Amit Shah is set to inaugurate the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag’ on Saturday, September 14, as part of efforts to promote Indian languages, including Hindi, and enhance coordination between them. The event will coincide with the inaugural session of the Official Language Diamond Jubilee celebrations and the 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan, organized by the Ministry of Home Affairs’ Department of Official Language.
The two-day event, taking place in the national capital from September 14-15, marks the 75th anniversary of Hindi’s recognition as an official language. According to a statement from the Home Ministry, the establishment of the ‘Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag’ aims to encourage the use of regional languages alongside Hindi.
The Department of Official Language has been organizing the annual Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan since 2021 under the leadership of Amit Shah. The Home Minister will also unveil several commemorative items, including the Diamond Jubilee Special Issue of ‘Rajbhasha Bharti’ magazine, a postage stamp, and a coin to mark the occasion. Additionally, the Rajbhasha Gaurav and Rajbhasha Kirti Awards will be presented, and several new books and magazines will be launched.
The tradition of large-scale Hindi Diwas celebrations, initiated in 2019, began with the first Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan in Varanasi in 2021. Subsequent events were held in Surat (2022) and Pune (2023). These celebrations have revitalized the efforts of Official Language personnel across the country.
The 4th Akhil Bharatiya Rajbhasha Sammelan holds particular significance as it takes place during the Diamond Jubilee of Hindi as an official language. The event will examine Hindi’s evolution over the past 75 years, with a focus on its role in technology and public communication.
The final session, focused on Hindi in Indian cinema, will feature actor Anupam Kher and filmmaker Chandraprakash Dwivedi. Over 10,000 participants, including Rajbhasha officials, Hindi scholars, and senior government officials, are expected to attend.
