Israel Launches Massive Air Campaign in Southern Lebanon

Israel | Southern Lebanon

Israel has launched a new wave of air attacks across southern Lebanon, targeting hundreds of Hezbollah sites. The Israeli military has issued warnings to civilians living near these locations, urging them to evacuate for their safety.

According to Lebanon’s Health Ministry, the death toll from these strikes has reached at least 182, with over 727 people wounded. The ministry reports that children, women, and paramedics are among the casualties.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, speaking from a military headquarters in Tel Aviv, stated that Israel is “changing the security balance” in the north of the country. He acknowledged that Israel faces “complicated days” ahead as it intensifies its operations against Hezbollah.

The Israeli military described the operation as involving “extensive, precise” strikes against Hezbollah targets, not only in southern Lebanon but also in the eastern Bekaa Valley. They have reiterated calls for civilians to evacuate areas where Hezbollah is known to operate.

This recent escalation marks the deadliest day in Lebanon since the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah reignited in October last year. The massive air campaign has drawn international attention, with Hamas denouncing the Israeli attacks.

As the situation continues to develop, concerns are growing about the potential for further escalation and the impact on civilian populations in the region. International observers are closely monitoring the unfolding events, with calls for de-escalation expected to increase in the coming days.
