At the invitation of the United States Secretary of Commerce, Gina Raimondo, Union Minister of Commerce and Industry, Piyush Goyal, is set to visit the United States from September 30 to October 3, 2024. The visit aims to strengthen economic ties between the two nations and explore avenues for mutual trade and investment growth.

During the visit, Minister Goyal will co-chair the India-USA CEO Forum on October 2, and the 6th India-USA Commercial Dialogue on October 3, in Washington, D.C. Alongside Secretary Raimondo, Goyal will engage in discussions focused on promoting sustainable economic growth, enhancing the business and investment climate, and deepening connections between Indian and American business communities.

Minister Goyal is also scheduled to meet with key business leaders from both countries during his visit. He will participate in a roundtable organized by the US-India Strategic Partnership Forum, highlighting investment opportunities in India and exploring ways to harness the complementary strengths of the two economies. Additionally, he will chair a Young Business Leaders Roundtable and lead a Gems & Jewellery Trade Roundtable to emphasize the potential for collaboration in these sectors.

A significant aspect of the discussions between Minister Goyal and Secretary Raimondo will focus on expanding and diversifying critical mineral supply chains between India and the USA. The two nations are currently negotiating a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to boost bilateral cooperation in this area, leveraging each country’s strengths to enhance supply chain resilience.

In addition to these engagements, Goyal is scheduled to meet with U.S. Trade Representative Katherine Tai to discuss ongoing collaboration under the Trade Policy Forum and explore ways to further strengthen bilateral trade between the two countries.
