PM Modi emplanes for US; to participate in Quad Summit, address UN ‘Summit of Future

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday departed for a three-day visit to the United States.

In a post on X, Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal said, “PM @narendramodi emplanes for USA to participate in the 6th Quad Leaders’ Summit and to address the UN ‘Summit of the Future’.”

In his departure statement, Prime Minister Modi said, “Today, I am embarking on a three-day visit to the United States of America to participate in the Quad Summit being hosted by President Joe Biden in his hometown, Wilmington and to address the Summit of the Future at the UN General Assembly (UNGA) in New York.”

The Prime Minister’s visit will commence with the annual Quad Summit in Wilmington, where he will join US President Joe Biden, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida to discuss regional security and cooperation in the Indo-Pacific. On the same day, PM Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with President Biden, focusing on defense, trade, and strategic partnerships, with key agreements expected to be signed.

On September 22, PM Modi will address a community event with the Indian diaspora in New York and participate in a Business Roundtable with top US CEOs from sectors such as artificial intelligence, quantum computing, and biotechnology.

The visit will conclude on September 23, with PM Modi attending the ‘Summit of the Future’ at the United Nations, where global multilateral challenges will be addressed. India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar will deliver the country’s statement during the UN General Assembly debate.
