Pm Pune visit | Pune rains

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s planned visit to Pune on Thursday, ahead of the Maharashtra assembly elections, has been cancelled due to heavy rainfall in the city.

The Prime Minister was set to inaugurate, dedicate and lay the foundation stones for several projects worth Rs 22,600 crore, including the inauguration of Solapur Airport.

The PM was also scheduled to flag off the Metro service from the Pune District Court Metro Station, running between District Court and Swargate.

Several regions in Maharashtra experienced heavy waterlogging due to intense rainfall, disrupting train, bus, and flight operations in Mumbai and Pune. By Thursday morning, services resumed as the water receded.

According to Central Railways, all local trains are running normally, with some on the main line delayed by 3-4 minutes due to rescheduled mail express movements and a few cautionary measures. The Western Railway suburban services were also restored on Thursday as water levels receded at several stations.

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a heavy rainfall warning for several areas in the state. The city administration declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Mumbai based on the IMD forecast.

The Pune district administration has declared a holiday for schools and colleges following the IMD’s heavy rainfall prediction and the issuance of an orange alert for Pune.
