As Nepal’s ruling alliance assessed the government’s 100-day performance at the Prime Minister’s residence in Baluwatar on Wednesday, Prime Minister Oli affirmed that any attempt to break the coalition between the two largest parties, UML and Nepali Congress, is futile. He stressed that rumors about the government’s collapse are undermining its functioning.
Meanwhile, opposition leaders, including CPN-Maoist Center Chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal, met President Ram Chandra Paudel on Thursday, urging him not to issue an ordinance that the government might send for his approval to facilitate splits in political parties.
The opposition leaders alleged that Prime Minister Oli was preparing to introduce the ordinance to enable splits in fringe parties and induct lawmakers into his own party, aiming to make it the largest in the House of Representatives.
