Nepal

President Ramchandra Paudel has solemnised the Ghatasthapana rituals along with the worship of Goddess Durgadevi in keeping with the Vedic tradition at the Rashtrapati Bhawan, Sheetal Niwas, the President House today.

There is the tradition of the Head of State, representing the whole nation, solemnizing the Ghatasthapana rituals with the worship of Durga, the goddess symbolizing power and might, as per the religious rites on the first day of the Durga Pakshya.

Seeds of maize and barley were sowed for their germination into Jamara at Hanumandhoka Durbar’s Dashain Ghar of Kathmandu amidst a special ritual ceremony on the first day of Navratri known as Ghatasthapana. Ghatsthapana is being marked today by placing a water pot over soil and cow dung mixed with maize and barley seeds for germination into saplings called as Jamara.

The sowing of seeds was initiated by performing Ghatasthapana as per Vedic rituals in the Dashain Ghar. There is a tradition of performing rituals invoking Goddess Durga at Dashain Ghar on behalf of the state. Worship is commenced with sacrifices at Dashain Ghar from today itself. Devotees crowd Shakti temples on the first day of Dashain across Nepal.
