The Indian Sports Honours (ISH) will return for its fifth edition, set to take place on November 9th, at the JW Marriott Hotel in Juhu, Mumbai. This prestigious event will celebrate India’s top athletes and their outstanding performances from October 2023 to September 2024.
The honours will span a diverse array of sports, including Olympic and Paralympic disciplines, the Asian Games, the Commonwealth Games, as well as Cricket, Squash, and Chess. Following a thorough selection process, the event will culminate in a spectacular ceremony, where the winners will be revealed live on stage.
A distinguished panel of sports icons will form the jury for this esteemed event, with Abhinav Bindra, an IOC member and India’s first individual Olympic medalist, serving as chairperson.
In a comprehensive and transparent evaluation, the jury will shortlist nominations for ten prestigious Jury Honours and four Popular Choice Honours. The Jury Honours will include categories such as Sportsman of the Year, Sportswoman of the Year, and Team of the Year, while the Popular Choice Honours will give fans the opportunity to recognize their favourite athletes through online polls currently live on Twitter.
In addition to the established categories, organizers will introduce a new Grassroots Initiative of the Year Honour this year, along with a Lifetime Achievement Honour. This new honour will recognize organizations and individuals who have made significant contributions to developing sports at the grassroots level. By focusing on promoting and nurturing young talent, this initiative will seek to inspire a culture of sportsmanship from the ground up.
