Nepal’s national women’s football team, which secured the first runner-up position in the South Asian Football Federation (SAFF) Women’s Championship 2024, will receive a cash prize from the Government of Nepal.
The team, which was narrowly defeated by Bangladesh in the final match held at Kathmandu’s Dashrath Stadium, is set to receive Rs 300,000 per player as announced by Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli.
Prime Minister Oli reiterated the government’s commitment to supporting sports and athletes, stating that the prize will be awarded shortly after the Tihar festival.
Additionally, the government has waived taxes on the prize amount, ensuring that players receive the full incentive in recognition of their achievement.
