In a series of initiatives aiming to cater to the growing demand for travel between the United States and India. The United States Embassy in New Delhi and Consulates in Mumbai, Kolkata, and Hyderabad will open consular operations on Saturday, December 7, to accommodate applicants requiring in-person visa interviews.
This is the 4th super Saturday in the series of special Saturday interview days launched in January.
Ahead of the super Saturday, Consul General at the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi Mark McGovern highlighted the feat of already processing more than one million US visas across India. Expressing enthusiasm he said, ”The people-to-people ties between the United States and India are stronger than ever, and we certainly understand that so is the demand for visas. That’s why we’re working overtime to keep the momentum going, even if it means coming in on a Saturday. Knowing that we can have that kind of impact makes this job so rewarding.”
To accelerate the system, The US Department of State has already implemented remote processing of interview waiver cases for applicants with previous U.S. visas.
The U.S. Mission in India has also bolstered its staffing and implemented technological advancements to handle the surge in visa applications.
