boxing day test | BGT 2024-25 | IND vs AUS

India fights to save Boxing Day Test as Australia pushes for victory at MCG

The Boxing Day Test between India and Australia at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) is heading towards an exciting conclusion.

With just 38 overs left in the final day of the fourth Test, India finds itself at 112/3, needing 228 more runs to chase a daunting target of 440. Though a victory seems difficult, the possibility of a draw is still within reach.

Earlier, Australia was bowled out for 234, setting a tough target for India.

The last-wicket stand between Nathan Lyon and Scott Boland contributed a crucial 61 runs. Jasprit Bumrah took the final wicket, dismissing Lyon for 41 off 55 balls, ending with impressive figures of 5/57.

India’s chase began on a shaky note. Captain Rohit Sharma, continuing his poor run, was dismissed for just 9 runs, while KL Rahul, who managed only 24 in the first innings, got out for a duck. Virat Kohli’s struggles persisted as he fell for just 5 runs.

However, there’s hope in the form of Yashasvi Jaiswal, who has anchored the innings with a solid 63* and is well supported by wicketkeeper Rishabh Pant, who is unbeaten on 28.
