Union Home Minister Amit Shah visited the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj on Monday, where he took a holy dip at the Sangam— the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and the now-extinct Saraswati rivers.
Shah was accompanied by Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.
Shah’s itinerary includes visits to the Bade Hanuman Ji and Abhayvat temples. He will also stop at the Juna Akhara, where he will have lunch with the seers, and visit Guru Sharananand Ji’s Ashram. Additionally, he is scheduled to meet with the Shankaracharyas of Sringeri, Puri, and Dwaraka. The Home Minister will return to Delhi in the evening.
Several other Union ministers, including Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, have also visited the Mahakumbh. Last week, the Uttar Pradesh cabinet held a meeting in Prayagraj, after which ministers took a holy dip at the Sangam.
Since the Mahakumbh began on January 13, the festival has seen an impressive turnout, with over 110 million devotees having taken a dip in Prayagraj by Sunday.
