Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Bhubaneswar on Wednesday, where he was welcomed by Odisha Governor Hari Babu Kambhampati, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, and Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan at the airport.
The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate the 18th Pravasi Bharatiya Divas (PBD) Convention in Odisha on Thursday. The convention, organized by the Government of India in collaboration with the Odisha state government, is being held in Bhubaneswar from January 8 to 10.
The event provides a platform for members of the Indian diaspora to connect and engage with one another. Delegates from over 50 countries have registered to attend the convention, which centers around the theme, “Diaspora’s Contribution to a Viksit Bharat.”
During the event, the Prime Minister will virtually flag off the Pravasi Bharatiya Express, a tourist train designed for members of the diaspora. The train, departing from Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi, will take passengers to various destinations of tourism and religious interest across India over three weeks. This initiative is part of the Pravasi Teertha Darshan Yojana.
