Prime Minister Modi likely to visit Maha Kumbh on February 5

Prime Minister Narendra Modi is expected to visit the Maha Kumbh Mela on February 5, according to sources cited by ANI.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to attend the mela on January 27. During his visit, he will take a holy dip at the Sangam, perform Ganga Puja, and hold meetings with officials. Vice President Dhankhar will also take a holy dip at the Sangam on February 1.

Meanwhile, President Droupadi Murmu is scheduled to visit Prayagraj on February 10. During her visit, the President will attend major events in the city. Administrative and security measures are being strengthened to ensure the smooth and secure visits of these leaders.

Security agencies have heightened vigilance in preparation for these visits, with special surveillance at key intersections and event venues throughout the city.

Earlier today, devotees gathered at the Maha Kumbh Mela despite dense fog engulfing the area. The inclement weather did not seem to impact the footfall of pilgrims.

The number of pilgrims is expected to rise in the coming days, with four key Shahi Snans scheduled. The Maha Kumbh Mela, which began on January 13, will continue until February 26. Key bathing dates include January 29 (Mauni Amavasya – Second Shahi Snan), February 3 (Basant Panchami – Third Shahi Snan), February 12 (Maghi Purnima), and February 26 (Maha Shivaratri).

According to the Uttar Pradesh government, more than 1.597 million devotees took a dip at the Triveni Sangam on the ninth day of the Maha Kumbh.

As of January 20, over 88.1 million devotees have already bathed in the sacred confluence of the Ganga, Yamuna, and mystical Saraswati.
