Leverage science, innovation to build Viksit Bharat: PM Modi

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday extended his greetings on National Science Day, highlighting the importance of leveraging science and innovation to achieve the vision of a Viksit Bharat (Developed India).

National Science Day, celebrated annually on February 28, honours the discovery of the ‘Raman Effect’ by renowned physicist Sir C.V. Raman. He made this breakthrough while working at the Indian Association for the Cultivation of Science in Kolkata, earning him the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930.

“Greetings on National Science Day to those passionate about science, particularly our young innovators,” PM Modi said in a post on social media platform X.

“Let’s continue to popularize science and innovation while leveraging them to build a Viksit Bharat,” he added.

The PM also shared a video tribute to physicist C.V. Raman, highlighting the importance of science in the development of every sector and state.

He said, “Curiosity is the mother of science… and every mind is naturally drawn to it.”

During this month’s Mann Ki Baat, the prime minister also mentioned the initiative ‘One Day as a Scientist,’ encouraging youth participation in scientific activities.

The theme for this year’s National Science Day is “Empowering Indian Youth for Global Leadership in Science and Innovation for Viksit Bharat.”

The theme reflects PM Modi’s emphasis on the power of youth to drive innovation and transformation, aligning with his vision of Viksit Bharat through global leadership in science and technology.

The Ministry of Ayush also reaffirmed its commitment to integrating traditional wisdom with modern science. “This year’s theme will inspire youth to innovate and lead in holistic healthcare,” the ministry said in a post on X.

Union Minister of Education Dharmendra Pradhan extended his best wishes to scientists, researchers, and innovators contributing to India’s progress.

Reaffirming his commitment to leveraging science for an Aatmanirbhar and Viksit Bharat, he said on X that India’s path to self-reliance will be fueled by cutting-edge research and homegrown technological advancements.

Minister of State for Science and Technology Jitendra Singh also extended his greetings to the nation on National Science Day.

“Remembering the great physicist, Bharat Ratna Sir C.V. Raman on National Science Day. His groundbreaking research on the Raman Effect earned him the first Nobel Prize in Physics awarded to any scientist in Asia in 1930,” Singh said in a post on X.
