The eighth edition of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s flagship event, Pariksha Pe Charcha (PPC), took place on Monday at Sunder Nursery in New Delhi. The event, which aims to reduce exam stress and promote a positive approach to learning, was met with enthusiastic participation from students, teachers, and parents alike.
The session was broadcast live across multiple platforms, allowing students nationwide to benefit from valuable insights shared by PM Modi on managing exam preparation, stress, and personal growth. Many students expressed how the interaction with the Prime Minister helped them stay motivated and focused, enabling them to approach their academic goals with a clearer perspective.
One notable moment during the event was when Akanksha, a student from Kerala, recited a poem in front of PM Modi. She described the experience as “happy” and “memorable,” further highlighting the emotional connection students felt during the session.
PM Modi addressed the students about the societal pressures surrounding exam scores, noting that low grades often create a tense atmosphere at home. He remarked, “Our society is such that low grades create a tense environment in the house. This is something that you cannot teach your parents.” The Prime Minister encouraged students to focus on their individual goals and avoid being distracted by external pressures.
Drawing a cricket analogy, PM Modi advised the students to “ignore the audience and distractions, and only focus on the ball,” stressing the importance of concentration and self-discipline. He also emphasized the need for students to embrace challenges, stating, “You have to train your mind to understand how to challenge yourself. One should always push their limits.”
The Prime Minister also shared his perspective on leadership, asserting that true leaders lead by example and deeply understand the issues affecting their people. He further explained, “Respect cannot be demanded. Your behaviour will earn respect for you; people accept actions, not just words,” highlighting the importance of integrity and action in leadership.
PM Modi also took the opportunity to stress the significance of maintaining good health, particularly during exam time. He underscored the role of sleep in overall well-being, explaining, “Absence of illness does not mean we’re healthy. Sleep is also dependent on nutrition.” He encouraged students to spend time in the morning sun for better physical and mental health, with two students from the Northeast sharing that they regularly did so during their morning assemblies.
PM Modi discussed the importance of including millet and vegetables in students’ diets, emphasizing the connection between holistic health and effective learning.
This year’s Pariksha Pe Charcha stood out with the participation of 36 students selected from various government schools, including Kendriya Vidyalayas, Sainik Schools, Eklavya Model Residential Schools, and Navodaya Vidyalayas. These students not only had the unique opportunity to interact with PM Modi but also benefitted from motivational talks by experts from diverse fields.
Looking ahead, PPC 2025 will feature seven insightful episodes with renowned personalities like Deepika Padukone, Sadhguru, Mary Kom, Vikrant Massey, and Rujuta Diwekar, who will discuss topics related to holistic development, managing pressure, and maintaining a positive mindset during exams.
With a record-breaking participation of 5 crore students, Pariksha Pe Charcha has evolved into a nationwide movement. Over the years, the initiative has grown into a “Jan Andolan,” inspiring collective engagement in the celebration of learning, personal growth, and student well-being.
