Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a sharp attack on Congress during his reply to the motion of thanks to the President’s Address in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. He stated that expecting the Congress to embrace the slogan “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas” would be a “huge mistake.”
In his address, PM Modi described the President’s speech as “inspirational” and “effective,” adding that it laid out a clear path forward for the nation. He expressed confusion over the opposition’s criticism of the phrase ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas,’ questioning why it had become a point of contention.
“Expecting ‘Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas’ from Congress will be a huge mistake. It is beyond their thinking and does not align with their agenda, as the entire party is devoted to just one family,” PM Modi said, referring to the Congress leadership.
The Prime Minister continued to criticize Congress, accusing the party of operating on a model based on “lies, corruption, family, and appeasement.” “In Congress’ model, the first priority is Family First. Their energy has been spent on this,” PM Modi added.
PM Modi also took aim at the Congress for allegedly spreading “caste poison” in society. He pointed out that for years, Members of Parliament from the OBC (Other Backward Classes) community had demanded constitutional recognition for the OBC panel, but Congress had consistently rejected their calls. “But we gave constitutional status to this panel,” he said.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister highlighted the shift in India’s governance model since 2014, emphasizing that it is now “focused on satisfaction rather than appeasement.”
The debate saw participation from over 70 members in the Rajya Sabha, where PM Modi had responded to the motion of thanks to the President’s Address. He had previously replied to the debate in the Lok Sabha on Tuesday.
