Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited the Ayurveda Garden at the State House in Mauritius on Tuesday, a site developed in collaboration with the Government of India. PM Modi was accompanied by the President of Mauritius, Dharambeer Gokhool, during the visit.
According to an official statement from the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), the Prime Minister commended the development of the Ayurveda Garden, acknowledging Mauritius as a key partner in promoting traditional medicine practices such as Ayurveda.
“Prime Minister also visited the Ayurveda Garden in the State House, established in collaboration with the Government of India. Prime Minister said that Mauritius is an important partner for India in advancing the benefits of traditional medicine, including Ayurveda,” the MEA said.
Taking to social media platform X, PM Modi expressed his appreciation for the initiative and shared his delight at Ayurveda’s increasing popularity in Mauritius.
“It is commendable that an Ayurvedic Garden has been built in the State House in Mauritius. I am also happy that Ayurveda is gaining popularity in Mauritius. President Dharambeer Gokhool and I went to the Ayurvedic Garden, giving me the opportunity to see it firsthand,” PM Modi wrote.
PM Modi is currently on an official visit to Mauritius, where he participated in the Mauritius National Day celebrations as the Chief Guest, underscoring the deep diplomatic and cultural ties shared by the two nations.
During a special lunch hosted by President Dharambeer Gokhool, PM Modi expressed gratitude for the warm hospitality extended to him and reaffirmed India’s commitment to strengthening bilateral relations with Mauritius.
“It is once again my privilege to attend the National Day celebrations of Mauritius as the Chief Guest,” PM Modi said.
“I extend my heartfelt gratitude to the Hon’ble President for this warm hospitality and honour. This is not just an occasion for a meal but a symbol of the vibrant and close ties between India and Mauritius,” he added.
As part of his visit, PM Modi also presented OCI (Overseas Citizen of India) Cards to President Dharambeer Gokhool and First Lady Brinda Gokhool. Additionally, he gifted them with sacred Sangam water from Mahakumbh contained in a Brass and Copper pot, along with superfood Makhana. The Prime Minister also presented the First Lady with a Banarasi Saree in a traditional Sadeli box.
