US’ Tulsi Gabbard to visit India during multi-nation trip to Indo-Pacific

US Director of National Intelligence (DNI), Tulsi Gabbard, announced on Monday that she has embarked on a multi-nation trip to the Indo-Pacific region, with planned visits to Japan, Thailand, and India. Gabbard, a former Congresswoman, is expected to strengthen diplomatic ties and enhance communication in key areas of mutual interest between the United States and these countries.

In a post shared on X, Gabbard expressed her excitement about the trip, highlighting her familiarity with the region as a “child of the Pacific.” She emphasized that building strong relationships, fostering understanding, and maintaining open lines of communication are crucial to achieving US President Donald Trump’s goals of peace, freedom, and prosperity. Gabbard’s journey began with a stop in Honolulu, where she is set to visit key partners and leaders, as well as US military personnel engaged in training with the Indo-Pacific Command (INDOPACOM).

“I am #WheelsUp on a multi-nation trip to the Indo-Pacific, a region I know very well having grown up as a child of the Pacific. I’ll be going to Japan, Thailand, and India, with a brief stop in France en route back to DC,” she posted.

Notably, Gabbard’s visit to India marks the first trip by a senior White House official to the country under the Trump administration. Her visit follows Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s trip to the US in February, where he met with President Trump. During that visit, Prime Minister Modi described Gabbard as a “strong votary” of the growing India-US friendship.
