Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Maharashtra, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh on May 1 and 2 to participate in a series of official engagements, including inaugurations and foundation stone laying ceremonies for infrastructure and development projects across the three states.
On May 1, the Prime Minister will travel to Mumbai, where he will inaugurate WAVES 2025 — the World Audio Visual and Entertainment Summit — at the Jio World Centre. Described as India’s first-of-its-kind summit in the sector, WAVES is being positioned as a global platform to showcase the country’s media, entertainment, and digital innovation ecosystem. The four-day summit, themed “Connecting Creators, Connecting Countries,” is aimed at transforming India into a global hub for audiovisual content and technology.
The event will integrate various verticals including films, OTT, gaming, comics, AI, AVGC-XR, and digital media. According to the government, the summit has the potential to unlock a $50 billion market by 2029 and expand India’s global presence in the entertainment economy.
WAVES 2025 will also host the Global Media Dialogue (GMD) for the first time, with ministerial representation from 25 countries. It will feature the WAVES Bazaar, an e-marketplace expected to bring together over 6,100 buyers, 5,200 sellers, and more than 2,000 projects. The Prime Minister is also scheduled to interact with creators selected through the ‘Create in India’ challenges and visit the Bharat Pavilion and Creatosphere.
On May 2, the Prime Minister will be in Kerala where he will dedicate to the nation the Vizhinjam International Deepwater Multipurpose Seaport. The Rs 8,900 crore port is India’s first dedicated transshipment facility and is seen as a key step in boosting the country’s maritime infrastructure. With a natural draft depth of nearly 20 metres and proximity to major global shipping routes, the port is expected to significantly enhance India’s cargo handling capacity and reduce reliance on foreign transshipment hubs.
Later the same day, PM Modi will visit Andhra Pradesh where he will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate development projects worth over Rs 58,000 crore in Amaravati. Among these are several infrastructure initiatives, including the inauguration of seven National Highway projects and the dedication of multiple railway connectivity projects.
Key railway projects include the doubling of the line between Bugganapalle Cement Nagar and Panyam stations, and the construction of a third line between New West Block Hut Cabin and Vijayawada. The Prime Minister will also lay the foundation for additional highway projects and a railway project aimed at easing freight movement through Guntakal Junction.
In Amaravati, PM Modi will lay the foundation for government and administrative infrastructure worth over Rs 11,240 crore. This includes the Assembly, High Court, Secretariat, housing for over 5,200 families, and urban infrastructure projects. Among them is a 320-km transport network integrated with flood mitigation systems, and 1,281 km of trunk roads with cycle tracks and underground utilities, developed under the Land Pooling Scheme.
The Prime Minister will lay the foundation for a Missile Test Range at Nagayalanka in Andhra Pradesh. With an estimated cost of Rs 1,460 crore, the facility will include launch centres, indigenous radar systems, and other instrumentation aimed at bolstering defence preparedness.
He will also lay the foundation stone of the PM Ekta Mall at Madhurawada in Visakhapatnam, a project envisioned to support local artisans under the One District One Product initiative and contribute to employment generation and rural empowerment.
