After Kolkata’s Eden Gardens, Jaipur’s Sawai Mansingh stadium received a bomb threat via email on Thursday, prompting an immediate and large-scale security response. The email was sent to the Rajasthan State Sports Council amid rising border tensions between India and Pakistan.
Neeraj K. Pawan, President of the Sports Council, confirmed that the threatening email was received at 9:13 a.m.
“The message claimed the stadium would be bombed following the success of ‘Operation Sindoor’,” he said.
Alarmed by the contents of the message, staff immediately alerted the police control room. In response, police officers, the Quick Reaction Team (QRT), and a bomb disposal squad were deployed to the stadium.
The premises were fully evacuated, and a thorough search operation was conducted. As of now, no suspicious items have been found in or around the stadium.
High-ranking officials, including Additional Police Commissioner Kunwar Rashtradeep and DCP South Digant Anand, reached the site to supervise the situation.
The stadium has been sealed for security, and a cyber investigation team has been deployed to trace the origin of the email.
