Amid escalating tensions between India and Pakistan, the Congress Party on Friday launched the ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ at state headquarters across the country to honour the courage of the Indian armed forces during ‘Operation Sindoor’ and to pay tribute to the 26 victims of the recent Pahalgam terror attack.
Speaking to IANS, Congress leader Pawan Khera said, “Today, on behalf of the Congress party, the ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ is being conducted at every state headquarters across India. We stand firmly with our Army and armed forces and want to express our full political support for their bravery and commitment.”
He added that the ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ is not only a tribute to the armed forces but also a show of unity and solidarity during a time of national crisis.
Taking to social media platform X, Khera wrote, “Congress proudly announces the launch of the #JaiHindYatra, to honour the bravery of our Armed Forces and remember the innocent lives lost in the Pahalgam terror attack. This Yatra is a tribute to the courage and sacrifice of our soldiers who protect our nation every day.”
He further emphasized that the march is intended to promote social harmony and a collective national spirit. “The ‘Jai Hind Yatra’ is not just a procession; it is a call for unity, peace, and justice. As Congress workers unite across the nation, we reaffirm our commitment to a strong, secure, and united India,” Khera said.
Reflecting the tone of the initiative, Khera added, “This movement symbolizes our deep respect for those who serve the nation and our hope for a safer future. India’s strength lies in its unity and resilience. Let us walk this path with pride and purpose.”
In Karnataka, Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar shared images from the Yatra in Bengaluru and posted on X, “In support of ‘Operation Sindoor’ undertaken by our Defence forces to safeguard national security, I joined the ‘Tiranga Yatra’ from K.R. Circle to Chinnaswamy Stadium Circle along with Chief Minister @siddaramaiah.”
Shivakumar added, “With the Indian Tricolour in hand, hundreds of participants—including children, elders, writers, thinkers, political leaders, activists, government and private employees, film personalities, and members of various organisations—marched in unity, sending a powerful message of national solidarity.”
