India neutralised Pakistan Air Defence System in Lahore: Colonel Sofiya Qureshi

The Indian Armed Forces successfully neutralised Pakistan’s attempts to carry out a large-scale drone and missile attack on multiple Indian military installations across Northern and Western India during the night of May 7–8. An air defence system in Lahore was among the assets neutralised.

Addressing a press briefing at the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) on Thursday, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi said that India’s Integrated Counter-UAS Grid and Air Defence systems had effectively neutralised the threats.

She added that, in response to Pakistan’s attempted attacks, the Indian Armed Forces targeted multiple air defence radars and systems across Pakistan on Thursday morning.

“This morning, the Indian Armed Forces targeted air defence radars and systems at a number of locations in Pakistan. India’s response has matched Pakistan’s in both domain and intensity. It has been reliably confirmed that an air defence system in Lahore was neutralised,” she said.

Referring to Wednesday’s briefing on ‘Operation Sindoor,’ Colonel Qureshi recalled:

“During the press briefing on Operation Sindoor on May 7, 2025, India described its response as focused, measured, and non-escalatory. It was clearly stated that Pakistani military establishments had not been targeted. We reiterated that any attack on Indian military targets would invite an appropriate response.”

On the night of May 7–8, Pakistan attempted to strike several Indian military locations using drones and missiles. These included targets in Awantipora, Srinagar, Jammu, Pathankot, Amritsar, Kapurthala, Jalandhar, Ludhiana, Adampur, Bathinda, Chandigarh, Nal, Phalodi, Uttarlai, and Bhuj. These threats were intercepted and neutralised by India’s integrated air defence network. Debris recovered from several sites confirmed the attempted attacks.
