India is set to participate in the upcoming BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting, scheduled for May 26 in Brasília, Brazil. The high-level ministerial dialogue will see the presence of the Union Minister of Culture and Tourism, Gajendra Singh Shekhawat, who will lead the Indian delegation and represent the country at the prestigious event.
The BRICS Culture Ministers’ Meeting serves as a significant platform for fostering mutual understanding, cultural exchange, and collaborative initiatives among the five member nations—Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa. This year’s edition will focus on strengthening cultural cooperation, enhancing institutional collaborations, and launching joint cultural projects to preserve and promote the diverse cultural heritage of BRICS countries.
Shekhawat is expected to emphasize India’s longstanding commitment to cultural diplomacy, heritage conservation, and people-to-people exchanges. He will also highlight India’s unique and influential contributions to the global cultural landscape, along with sharing recent initiatives undertaken by the Indian government to promote art, culture, and heritage.
The meeting will further offer India an opportunity to explore new avenues of cooperation in areas such as performing arts, visual arts, literature, heritage conservation, and creative industries. India will strongly advocate for multilateral collaboration and inclusive cultural growth under the BRICS framework.
Apart from the main ministerial discussions, the Indian delegation is also expected to engage in bilateral meetings with counterparts from other BRICS nations. These interactions aim to deepen cultural partnerships, discuss potential exchange programs, and plan collaborative festivals that enhance intercultural dialogue.
India remains firmly committed to working closely with its BRICS partners to build resilient cultural frameworks, foster mutual respect among nations, and contribute meaningfully to a more inclusive and harmonious global cultural order.
