X outage | Twitter down

Musk-run X suffers outage, users in India unable to login and load new posts

The Elon Musk-run social media platform X suffered a global outage on Saturday, affecting users in India as well. Many were unable to log in or load new posts.

According to outage tracking website Downdetector, thousands of users reported issues accessing X’s webpages, as well as problems with the app and login page.

While 41 per cent of users said they were unable to log in, an equal percentage reported problems with the X app, and 18 per cent faced issues with the website.

The company has yet to disclose the reason behind the outage — the second in 24 hours.

On Friday, X (formerly known as Twitter) experienced a major outage that left millions of users unable to access the platform.

Several users in India attempted to use the website but were unsuccessful. According to Downdetector, more than 5,000 users globally reported issues with the microblogging service.

X Engineering acknowledged the problem in a post, stating the team was actively working on a resolution.

“X is aware that some of our users are experiencing performance issues on the platform today. We are experiencing a data centre outage and the team is actively working to remediate the issue,” the post read.

In March, Musk revealed that a massive cyberattack had hit X, disabling access for millions of users globally, including in India.

“We get attacked every day, but this was done with a lot of resources. Either a large, coordinated group and/or a country is involved. Tracing…,” said the billionaire in a post. “There was (still is) a massive cyberattack against X,” he added, calling it an attempt to silence him and his platform.

X was acquired by Musk in October 2022 for $44 billion. Since the acquisition, X has rarely gone offline compared to its peers Facebook and Instagram.
