Operation Sindoor outreach: Delegation meets Japanese leaders, receives support for India’s action

An all-party parliamentary delegation led by Janata Dal (United) MP Sanjay Jha met top Japanese leaders in Tokyo on Thursday, reaffirming India’s unwavering stand against terrorism. The visit is part of India’s global outreach campaign to highlight its counter-terrorism efforts and brief the international community on Operation Sindoor.

The delegation included BJP MPs Aparajita Sarangi and Brij Lal, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee, CPI(M) Rajya Sabha member John Brittas, and senior Congress leader Salman Khurshid.

During the meeting, Japan’s Foreign Minister Takeshi Iwaya expressed solidarity with India’s concerns over cross-border terrorism, particularly condemning the recent Pahalgam terror attack. He stressed that the perpetrators must be brought to justice and voiced strong support for India’s response.

“Reiterated our national resolve to act firmly against terror and those who support it. Grateful for Japan’s support and for calling for justice against perpetrators of such acts,” Jha said in a post on X after the meeting. He also felicitated the Japanese minister in traditional Mithila style.

The delegation also met with former Japanese Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, who currently serves as Vice President of the ruling LDP and Chairman of the Japan-India Association, reinforcing Japan’s steadfast commitment to supporting India in its fight against terrorism.

The delegation interacted with prominent Japanese think tanks, briefing them on India’s zero-tolerance policy and presenting detailed accounts of Pakistan’s support for terrorist groups like Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM).

The session saw strong expressions of support for India’s stance on regional security and combating state-sponsored terrorism.

“This dialogue strengthens global partnerships rooted in peace, security, and shared democratic values,” Jha added in his post on X.

The visit is part of an expansive global diplomatic effort led by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), involving seven high-level delegations, 59 MPs, former ministers, diplomats, and political leaders visiting 33 countries between 21 May and 5 June.

While Jha’s delegation covers East and Southeast Asia, other groups, led by MP Shrikant Shinde and DMK leader Kanimozhi, are engaging with the Middle East, Africa, and Europe. The overarching aim is to create a global consensus and diplomatically isolate Pakistan.
