Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Saturday convened a high-level meeting at his residence in New Delhi amid heightened tensions with Pakistan, following what the Indian Army described as a “blatant escalation” along the western border.
The meeting was attended by Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, National Security Advisor Ajit Doval, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) Gen. Anil Chauhan, the chiefs of the armed forces, and senior government officials.
It came in the wake of repeated Pakistani drone incursions and munitions attacks targeting Indian military infrastructure, civilian areas, and religious sites.
In response, the Indian Armed Forces launched retaliatory precision strikes targeting key Pakistani military installations. These included command and control centres, radar sites, ammunition depots, and technical facilities.
Earlier in the day, a joint press briefing was held by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, and Wing Commander Vyomika Singh. They outlined India’s response and dismissed Pakistan’s disinformation campaign.
“Pakistan’s actions constitute clear provocation and escalation,” Misri said. “In response India defended and reacted in a responsible and measured fashion.”
Col. Qureshi detailed the precision airstrikes carried out on Pakistani military targets in Rafiqui, Murid, Chaklala, Rahim Yar Khan, Sukkur, and Chunian, as well as radar installations at Pasrur and Sialkot aviation bases. She stressed that the targeting was designed to minimise collateral damage.
Wing Commander Singh highlighted Pakistan’s ongoing attempts to spread false narratives about the destruction of Indian military assets, including claims about damage to the S-400 system at Adampur, airfields in Suratgarh and Sirsa, BrahMos facilities at Nagrota, and artillery positions in Dehrangyari and Chandigarh.
“The recent claims made by Pakistan regarding the destruction of Indian military facilities, infrastructure, and the alleged missile attacks on Afghanistan are nothing but lies and propaganda,” she said.
Singh also confirmed that Pakistan is increasing its troop deployment along the border, indicating potential offensive intent. She emphasized that while India has effectively countered all hostile actions with proportionate responses, it remains committed to de-escalation—provided Pakistan demonstrates reciprocal restraint.
