PM Modi reviews national security readiness in high-level meeting with secretaries

Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday chaired a high-level meeting with top Secretaries from key ministries and departments to review national preparedness and strengthen inter-ministerial coordination in light of the evolving security situation.

The meeting was convened in the wake of Operation Sindoor—a precision strike launched by Indian armed forces early Wednesday targeting terrorist infrastructure deep inside Pakistan.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of seamless coordination among ministries and agencies to ensure operational continuity and institutional resilience. He reviewed the planning and preparedness measures being undertaken by various ministries to respond effectively to the evolving security situation.

Secretaries were directed to conduct comprehensive reviews of their respective ministries’ operations, focusing on readiness, emergency response, and internal communication protocols. The Prime Minister stressed the need for a “Whole of Government” approach, with each ministry identifying actionable steps to strengthen systems and processes in view of the ongoing conflict.

The meeting also addressed a broad range of issues, including the reinforcement of civil defence mechanisms, combating misinformation and fake news, and securing critical infrastructure. Ministries were further advised to maintain close coordination with state governments and grassroots institutions.

Senior officials from the Prime Minister’s Office, the Cabinet Secretary, and Secretaries from key ministries—including Defence, Home Affairs, External Affairs, Information & Broadcasting, Power, Health, and Telecommunications—were present at the meeting.
