Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Odisha on Friday as part of his three-state tour.
In Bhubaneswar, PM Modi will chair a state-level event marking the completion of one year of the BJP-led government in Odisha and inaugurate a series of development projects worth over ₹18,600 crore.
The initiatives span critical sectors such as drinking water supply, irrigation, agricultural infrastructure, healthcare, rural connectivity, national highways, and railway expansion.
A major highlight of the visit will be the extension of rail connectivity to Boudh district, which will be added to India’s railway map for the first time. PM Modi will flag off new train services, improving connectivity in the region.
In a push towards sustainable urban transport, the Prime Minister will also launch 100 electric buses under the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) system. These eco-friendly buses are designed to serve Bhubaneswar and adjoining areas, reducing urban emissions while improving commuter convenience.
Another key highlight of the visit will be the release of the Odisha Vision Document. The document lays out a long-term roadmap for inclusive and sustainable development of the state. It has been framed with an eye on two landmark milestones—2036, marking the centenary of Odisha as India’s first linguistic state, and 2047, celebrating 100 years of India’s independence.
To promote cultural preservation and tourism, PM Modi will also launch the Baraputra Aitihya Gram Yojana, a heritage initiative to transform the birthplaces of iconic Odia personalities into heritage villages. These villages will feature museums, statues, interpretation centres, and libraries, showcasing Odisha’s rich legacy.
Additionally, the Prime Minister will honour over 16.5 lakh women achievers, known as “Lakhpati Didis,” who have achieved economic self-reliance through government-supported livelihood programs.
