Prime Minister to inaugurate railway, power, and housing projects in Siwan, Bihar

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will embark on a two-day visit to Bihar, Odisha, and Andhra Pradesh today.

The tour will kick off in the Siwan district of Bihar, where around noon on Friday, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone and inaugurate a series of development projects. He is also scheduled to address a public gathering.

Among the key projects is the inauguration of the Vaishali–Deoria railway line, constructed at a cost of ₹400 crore. PM Modi will also flag off a new train service along this route, further enhancing rail connectivity in the region.

In a major push for regional connectivity, the Prime Minister will flag off a Vande Bharat Express between Patliputra and Gorakhpur via Muzaffarpur and Bettiah, providing an important link for North Bihar.

Under the banner of “Make in India – Make for the World,” PM Modi will also flag off the first export locomotive manufactured at the Marhowra Plant in Saran. Destined for the Republic of Guinea, the locomotive features high-horsepower engines, advanced AC propulsion systems, and regenerative braking technologies.

The Prime Minister will also inaugurate six sewage treatment plants under the Namami Gange programme. Developed at a cost of over ₹1,800 crore, these plants aim to improve sanitation and water quality in towns along the Ganga River.

Further boosting urban infrastructure, PM Modi will lay the foundation stone for a series of water supply and sanitation projects worth over ₹3,000 crore, benefiting several towns across Bihar. These initiatives aim to ensure access to clean and safe drinking water for the local population.

In a significant step toward enhancing the state’s power infrastructure, the Prime Minister will lay the foundation stone for a 500 MWh Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) across 15 grid substations in Bihar, including locations in Muzaffarpur, Motihari, Bettiah, and Siwan.

With capacities ranging from 20 to 80 MWh per site, these standalone storage systems will help power distribution companies manage peak electricity demand and reduce dependency on expensive energy purchases.

In the housing sector, PM Modi will release the first instalment under the Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana (Urban) to over 53,600 beneficiaries in Bihar. He will also participate in a Grih Pravesh ceremony, handing over keys to select recipients of more than 6,600 newly constructed houses.

Following his engagements in Siwan, the Prime Minister will travel to Bhubaneswar, Odisha, where he will attend a state-level function at around 4:15 PM, marking the completion of one year of the current state government.

On this occasion, he will also inaugurate and lay the foundation stone for multiple development projects worth over ₹18,600 crore, and address a public gathering.

On Saturday, PM Modi will travel to Visakhapatnam in Andhra Pradesh, where he will lead the International Yoga Day Mass Yoga Demonstration.
