The Ministry of Tourism’s Indiatourism Delhi office will host a grand celebration of the Teej Festival on July 28, at 88 Janpath, New Delhi. This culturally rich event will showcase India’s vibrant heritage, bringing together traditional music, dance, and festive traditions to mark the occasion.
Teej, a festival primarily celebrated by women in North India, particularly in Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and Punjab, heralds the monsoon season and commemorates the divine reunion of Goddess Parvati and Lord Shiva. Known for its lively traditions, the festival features henna (mehndi) application, swings, colorful attire, traditional cuisine, and expressions of prosperity and joy.
The celebration will immerse attendees in the essence of Teej with captivating folk performances from Rajasthan, stalls offering traditional bangles, and henna application booths. Guests can also savor authentic North Indian cuisine, with décor reflecting the festival’s vibrant spirit. The event is designed to promote India’s intangible cultural heritage and foster cultural exchange, welcoming both domestic and international tourists.
