Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday told Parliament that India had successfully neutralised all attacks launched by Pakistan following the commencement of Operation Sindoor on May 7 this year. He asserted that no key assets of the Indian Armed Forces were damaged during the hostilities and confirmed that nine terrorist infrastructure sites in Pakistan were hit in precision strikes, targeting “over 100 terrorists, their trainers, and handlers.”
Initiating the discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Singh said, “I feel proud to say that our defence systems-counter-drone technologies and electronic warfare equipment -completely foiled Pakistan’s attacks. They failed to hit any intended target, and no vital asset was harmed. Our security arrangements were robust and effective. Every attack was intercepted. I commend our brave Armed Forces who dismantled every plan of the enemy.”
Detailing the escalation, Singh stated that on May 10, Pakistan targeted Indian Air Force bases and military establishments, using not only drones and long-range missiles but also electronic warfare systems.
“On May 8, selected components of Pakistan’s air defence systems and sensor networks were targeted with precision-guided missiles. Our operation remained purely defensive and non-provocative. Pakistan began its attacks on May 7 and escalated further by May 10 around 1:30 AM, employing a combination of drones, long-range missiles, and electronic warfare technology. Their intended targets were Indian Air Force bases and military cantonments,” he said.
The Defence Minister also appealed to Opposition MPs to express their support for the Armed Forces. “I urge the Opposition- at least now, raise your hands to applaud our Armed Forces,” he remarked.
Singh disclosed that Indian forces had targeted multiple key military locations across Pakistan, including Chaklala, Sargodha, Rafiqui, Rahim Yar Khan, Jacobabad, Sukkur, and Bhalari air bases.
“Our forces on the Western Front struck Pakistani air bases, command-and-control systems, and military infrastructure. The courage displayed by the Indian Armed Forces was witnessed by the entire world,” he added.
Singh further informed the House that an “in-depth study” had been conducted prior to launching Operation Sindoor. He emphasised that the objective was to inflict maximum damage on terrorist elements while avoiding civilian harm.
“The entire operation was executed and concluded within 22 minutes,” the minister stated.
Although the discussion on Operation Sindoor was scheduled for more than 16 hours, proceedings in the Lok Sabha began late due to repeated adjournments amid Opposition protests. The House was adjourned thrice before the debate resumed at 2 PM, with Opposition MPs entering the Well of the House in protest.
