Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta flagged off buses for college students under the ‘U-Special’ (University Special) scheme on Thursday.
Speaking to reporters, Gupta said, “The U-Special service was closed for years, which neither the AAP government nor the Congress government prioritized. I am happy that the BJP government, in its short tenure, has once again brought vibrancy to Delhi University, allowing students to travel from home to university and back through the U-Special.”
“This initiative will not only restore Delhi University’s energy and reputation but also contribute to cleaner air in Delhi’s transport system. I congratulate the students of Delhi University and encourage them to use this service”, she added.
Delhi Transport Minister Pankaj Singh said all the U-Special buses were electric and air conditioned, equipped with CCTV cameras and panic buttons for the safety of students.
On metro concession passes, the Delhi CM said, “Yes, we will discuss this. Facilities should be available for the students.”
