Union Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports has invited nominations for the National Youth Award (NYA) 2024, according to an official statement released by the ministry on Monday.
The Award is designed to inspire young individuals aged 15 to 29 to strive for excellence in national development and social service. It encourages young people to cultivate a sense of responsibility toward their communities and to become good citizens, as stated by the ministry.
The National Youth Award, usually conferred during the National Youth Festival, is given in two categories — Individual and organisation.
The maximum number of awards given each year is 20 for individual categories and 5 for organisational categories. It may, however, vary at the discretion of the sanctioning authority in deserving cases.
Award to individuals will comprise a medal, a certificate and award money of ₹1,00,000. Award to voluntary youth organisations will comprise a medal, a certificate and award money of ₹3,00,000.
The ministry further informed that nominations for NYA 2024 have been invited online through an official online portal. The deadline for submitting applications has been extended to September 30, 2025.
Individuals/organisations who have shown identifiable excellent work for youth in different fields of development activities and social service such as health, research and innovation, culture, promotion of human rights, art and literature, tourism, traditional medicine, active citizenship, community service, sports and academic excellence, and smart learning are encouraged to submit their nominations by the last date, the statement further said.
