IMD issues orange alert for rainfall in several parts of Delhi over next 2–3 hours

The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Friday issued an orange alert for most zones of the national capital, including central, east, south, and New Delhi, warning of moderate rainfall over the next 2–3 hours.

Rainfall lashed several parts of Delhi earlier in the day, bringing much-needed respite from the prevailing humid conditions. Following the forecast, Delhi Airport authorities issued a passenger advisory, though flight operations remained unaffected.

“As per the Indian Meteorological Department’s forecast, inclement weather conditions are expected in Delhi. However, flight operations at Delhi Airport are currently normal. For the latest flight information, passengers are advised to contact their respective airlines,” said the Delhi Airport in an advisory on X.

The national capital has witnessed continuous rainfall over the past few days. Earlier this week, heavy downpours affected several parts of Delhi and its adjoining regions.

Meanwhile, monsoon activity is expected to remain active over Punjab and Haryana for the next three to four days, with heavy rainfall forecast in several districts already grappling with excess showers.
