The Government of India on Thursday expressed deep sorrow over the tragic helicopter crash that occurred in Ghana’s Ashanti Region on August 6, resulting in the loss of several lives, including two senior Ghanaian.
Among those who perished in the crash were Ghana’s Minister of Defence, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and the Minister for Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed.
The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) extended its heartfelt condolences to the Government and people of Ghana during this period of national mourning.
“Our thoughts and prayers are with the bereaved families and all those affected by this unfortunate incident. May the departed souls rest in eternal peace,” the MEA said in a statement.
India and Ghana share longstanding ties rooted in mutual respect and cooperation, and India stands in solidarity with the West African nation during this difficult time.
